A Celebration of Charles Villiers Stanford
Join us in commemorating the centenary of Charles Villiers Stanford (1852-1924) in works for chorus and baritone. Born in Dublin, trained in Leipzig, Stanford was unashamedly a classicist and would influence a whole generation of 20th century British composers. As well as both his cycles Songs of the Sea and Songs of the Fleet, we also feature pieces by his pupils, Rebecca Clarke, Hubert Parry, Ralph Vaughan Williams and Charles Wood.
